Horsley Witten Group is actively looking for a Trainer-Project Manager for Emergency Preparedness Planning projects.  Our growth has created an opportunity to  lead and participate in training events focused on emergency preparedness for drinking water and wastewater utilities including public and private sector clients.  Responsibilities include developing  in-person and virtual training events that prepare clients for mitigating against, responding to, and recovering from both natural and man-made disasters. Training events will range from seminars and workshops to discussion-based and operations-based exercises. Learn more about our ERP services here.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communicating and coordinating with planning teams that include local, state, and federal partners
  • Developing event agendas and training objectives
  • Identifying and coordinating arrangements for  training venues – either physical or virtual
  • Developing training materials, outreach products, and presentations
  • In person and virtual delivery of training
  • Leading and facilitating discussions on a wide variety of topics
  • Producing detailed meeting summaries, event summaries, and after-action reports
  • Identifying action items and supporting clients in their achievement of those items

Do you have interest in learning more about environmental  sustainability and nature-based solutions? If so, there is also an opportunity to participate in other sustainable environmental projects across the organization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2-8 years of experience in the environmental, planning, or emergency management sector with a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • Experience in organizing events, and facilitating activities designed to solicit attendee input
  • The desire and ability to excel in a team environment where you are supporting multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong research, note taking, and report writing skills
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite
  • Proficiency with virtual training platforms (e.g., Zoom, Teams)

Other:

  • Project management certification or experience
  • A basic understanding of drinking water and wastewater systems
