Horsley Witten Group is looking for an Assistant Project Manager, or Project Manager to join our team of enthusiastic professionals who can support a variety of water and wastewater technical assistance and planning projects. Our growth and recent federal initiatives on providing direct technical assistance to communities have created an opportunity to lead and participate in projects supporting drinking water and wastewater utilities. We support a hybrid work model (in office and work from home) and this role can be based out of our offices in Providence, RI, Sandwich, MA or Boston, MA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting senior project managers and coordinating technical staff to develop and deliver work products and provide on-the-ground technical support to meet the compliance and capacity needs of drinking water and wastewater utilities and the communities they serve
  • Help provide leadership for water and wastewater planning and compliance projects and interface directly with clients on all planning aspects of the projects
  • Attend, assist and/or lead client, contractor, community, stakeholder, and regulatory agency meetings
  • Work in a team-oriented practice that blends planning, science, and engineering into projects on a regular basis

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • 5-10 years’ work experience in environmental planning and policy, including water and wastewater planning
  • Excellent communication skills, including development of written documents and other materials for a variety of audiences
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to speak to, and engage with, a variety of audiences in both in-person and virtual settings
  • Ability to independently lead a task or series of tasks
  • Highly organized individual, able to manage and prioritize multiple assignments and project commitments simultaneously
  • Some familiarity with the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) and its requirements for drinking water systems and/or the Clean Water Act (CWA) and its requirements for wastewater systems
  • Experience working with municipal and/or utility staff
  • Driver’s license and ability/willingness to travel nationally
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
